About to enter its 50th year, Dental Update is the leading peer-reviewed clinical journal for the general dental practitioner (GDP). It helps GDPs face everyday challenges that occur in the surgery, offering practical and relevant solutions, and keeping practitioners informed of innovative developments and clinical procedures

Dental Update is read by general and specialist practitioners, hospital dentists, and an increasing number of dental students and hygienists in the UK and abroad. The journal also has a large number of online readers. Our principal aim is to offer all these readers a source of continuing education and practical advice. Most importantly, all published articles have been subject to rigorous peer review, sometimes by members of the Editorial Board, but always by experts in the area of dentistry that the article is addressing

Dental Update provides a range of information and is an invaluable resource, not just focusing on the complexities of restorative and preventive dentistry, but also covering specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics, implants and periodontics, all delivered in a clear and easily read tone, generally with a wide range of clinical illustrations and/or diagrams.

The Editor in Chief, Professor Trevor Burke, and members of the editorial board are all experts in their field and provide a clear direction for the journal to meet its aims and scope.

Dental Update is published 11 times per year, both in print and online. Each issue provides 4 hours of CPD.

The principal aim of the journal is to offer the general dental practitioner (and specialists in other subdisciplines of dentistry) a source of continuing education and a forum for discussion.

Dental Update publishes a range of articles including reviews, case reports, commentaries, letters to the editor and commissioned articles. In addition, occasional Guest editorials address contemporary subjects of interest, be these clinical or relevant to the process of dental practice. (Dental Update does not publish primary research.)
