This textbook opens very much where one would hope in discussing the evidence base behind much of the clinical content to come, and evidence-based medicine more generally. The section on evidence-based orthodontics would apply equally well to all dental disciplines and will be a useful starting point for all team members, interested in increasing their knowledge of orthodontics. I found the table on Cochrane systematic reviews in orthodontics published since 2016, extremely useful in understanding where best evidence could be found.
The book is set in a style which is both easy to read and interesting even for non-orthodontists like myself. I enjoyed not only the mix of clinical images, but the definitions and diagrams, and there was even something for dog lovers. The book, having become an established text is much more than a handbook and is really a compendium of Orthodontics. The build up from evidence base to craniofacial growth onto tooth movement adds an easy flow for the reader as chapters move to the clinical side and application of the evidence base to patient care.
