Abstract

For patients diagnosed with oral cancer, treatment may involve surgery or radiotherapy alone, or a combination of the two. Where radiotherapy is the sole modality, the addition of chemotherapy may be beneficial, particularly with advanced tumours. If the treatment is surgery, this may involve extensive microsurgical reconstruction. Follow up of treated patients should be rigorous and, ideally, quality of life should be measured.
