Occupational Health:  Preventing and Managing Back Problems Amongst Dental Professionals in Dental Practice

oliver richards   7 Feb 2019  -
The author recommends “stretching the spine inbetween patients”.
I think there is a traditional view that dentistry should be carried out in the seated position. I am 30 and do all of my routine examinations standing up. The results are identical to examining sitting, with the added benefit of reducing stress on the spine/back. When sitting all day I had back pain. Now that I stand more of the day I have none. If the seated position is know to cause muscoskeletal problems then we should be doing everything we can to avoid the position when possible.
