Abstract: This article discusses the implications of biologics on dental treatment and patient management. There is limited information available on the dental relevance of biologics, and, with increasing numbers of patients undertaking biological therapy for autoimmune diseases, cancer, and osteoporosis among other conditions, comprehensive research is needed. Information gathered from clinical trials and literature reviews was used to consolidate information for general dental practitioners (GDPs).

Clinical relevance: To update GDPs on biologics, highlight the importance of taking a thorough medical history and encourage discussion on management of patients taking biologics in general dental practice.
